Electric & Pneumatic Blast Gates
Automatic gates utilize an electric solenoid to control compressed air as it is delivered to open and close pneumatic cylinders. The solenoids are available in varied voltages (12/24V AC/DC, 120 and 220 line voltage). They can be wired to any electrical source and are typically wired so that the gates open when the machine or process in need of dust/fume collection.
With a wide variety of offerings, we are prepared to fulfill all of your requirements. When you choose our automatic blast gates, we can provide almost any size from 3” and up. Our products are available in aluminum, galvanized, and SS housing. We can also supply you with an automatic blast gate with airtight construction.
Blast Gates Control Air Flow — Save on Fan Power
One reason that our products are so successful is the fact that they are workhorses in the “green” arena! Electronically controlled and pneumatically operated, these blast gates provide air only when needed in specific areas. That means that you aren’t using any unnecessary power. Our products also optimize and minimize the CFM used for collection. This technology can be incorporated into one machine, or it can be linked to several to create a 1-on and 2-off scenario. In addition, these automatic blast gates can be linked to a pressure sensor, a PLC, and a VFD in order to control the fan depending on the total system air requirement.
Specialty Automatic Gates
Have a problematic application? Need a specialized gate solution? US Duct makes those. Two examples are our cutting “guillotine” gate and our self-cleaning gate options.
US Duct offers a guillotine-style automatic gate. These gates are designed to cut-off any particulate present in the gateway, as the gate closes. The blade of the gate is constructed with a 360-degree opening that slices closed, cutting off any debris in the opening, preventing build-up in or blockage of the blade as it slides through the gateway path.
US Duct offers a self-cleaning automatic gate. These gates are designed with extended slide/blade that protrudes out of the bottom of the housing when the gate closes. This allows the closing gate to push any debris out of the gate opening and outside of the ducting. Self-cleaning gates prevent particulate build-up in the gateway channel.

The pneumatic cylinders of our automatic gates require 90 PSI to operate but use very little volume. An electric solenoid directs the flow of the air to the cylinder for opening and closing. The solenoid is activated by virtually any electrical signal — 12/24 V AC/DC, or 110/220 line voltage. The solenoid operates off of milliamps and therefore requires only minimal wiring. Hook up to anything that becomes ‘hot’ when the gate is required to be open (or closed).
