Refurbishing Services
Rotary Valves by the nature of the design have tight internal clearances and are often used as an airlock to separate two different pressure or vacuum zones. These rotary valves can handle a wide variety of powders or granules that may have abrasive or corrosive properties. As a rotary valve goes through its normal service life it eventually gets to a point that it no longer serves the needs of the application. There are many factors that can influence the service life, but eventually every valve requires attention. When this occurs, the user has two choices:
a.) Replace the worn rotary valve with a new valve
b.) Repair the existing rotary valve
The Service
Young Industries offers “Free Tear-down and evaluation service for Rotary Valves”. As part of this service, our team takes the following steps to reach a conclusion.
1.) Our Application Engineer speaks with the user of the rotary valve to understand the application in which the rotary valve is being used. Our experience with rotary valve applications assure that the valve has the proper features to meet the application.
2.) The user sends the rotary valve to Young Industries for evaluation.
3.) When received, the rotary valve is completely dis-assembled.
4.) Critical internal dimensions are measured for the housing, rotor, and end plates.
5.) Drive, drive components, bearings and seals are evaluated to determine their condition.
6.) After all the information is gathered, our Engineers determine what will need to be done to bring the valve back to “as new” condition.
7.) If the rotary valve can be repaired, a report is presented to the user with costing to perform the repairs. This repair cost can then be compared to the cost of a new Rotary Valve.
Why Choose Young Industries?
In many cases the cost is considerably less to refurbish the used valve, than to replace with a new rotary valve. Our Application Engineers send a complete evaluation of the re-work & repair costs to the user. Upon approval from the user, the repairs are completed. Refurbishing a used valve can be a fraction of the cost of a new rotary valve.
Young Industries has much greater capabilities for refurbishing rotary valves than the typical machine shop. Our application and engineering staff’s extensive knowledge of Rotary Valves is the best in the industry. Young Industries has been manufacturing Rotary Valves since 1947 and our ASME certification gives us the ability to repair a wide range of rotary valves for most any operating pressure and temperature requirements. We have the capabilities to take used rotary valves and up-grade for use in new applications. Re-Work and Repair services offered by Young Industries can greatly extend the life of a Rotary Valve and be cost effective.
